Chapter 30: Still sick

We are all still sick sadly. My wife bought a humidifier which I honestly didn’t know existed, I thought there were only dehumidifiers. Apparently, they help sore and dry throats, so let’s see how it goes.

My daughter is making small improvements, her voice has lost the deep screeching sound but it’s been replaced with a full sound. Sadly things aren’t great for my wife, her fibromyalgia is really messing with her legs. Along with the cold, well she’s seen better days.

This is a short post as it’s kinda late and I know I needed to at least post something. I think I’m going to talk about some anime in the next one, I really want to talk about the new Sword Art Online season.

Until next time!

Chapter 29: Sickness

So Friday night around 2:30, my daughter starts gagging and coughing. I rushed into her bedroom to see my wife looking terrified holding a bucket and patting her back and trying to calm her down. She throws up into the bucket and we rush up to the hospital as she was having trouble breathing.

We really didn’t have to wait too long before a doctor saw her, I think it was only about 15 minutes, anyway… She was surprisingly well behaved as the doctors prodded and poked her. Turns out she has something called Croup, which swells the vocal chords and a bunch of other nasty stuff that I can’t remember, sorry at this point it had just gone 3 in the morning so my memory is pretty bad.

We were given some medicine which took about half an hour to force down her throat, she really didn’t like the medicine. Shortly afterwards they gave her another look over and the swelling had gone down. But with most things, we end up staying there for about another hour for a final check.

We finally get home at around 6 am, which isn’t bad really. My wife and daughter snuggle up in our bed as I had to sleep on the sofa. Although it sucked that I start work at 8 am, so I really only ended up with about 30 minutes of restless nap time.

So yeah, that’s why I didn’t bother posting yesterday. I’m still not fully sleep recovered and I’m pretty sure I’ve caught a cold.

Until next time!

Chapter 23: Playing Hero

So, there’s a bunch of dog food cans wrapped up on the floor and my daughter is jumping off of them and landing in the floor while cheering to herself. I asked her “are you going to be a trapezist?“, she giggled and said no.

After a few more jumps I ask,” Are you a superhero like Wonder Woman?“, giggling she tells out “Yeah! I’m Wonder Woman!“. She then starts insisting we chase my nephew around the house as I hold her up so she can ‘fly’. Which of course means we sirens the next 10 minutes making swooshing sounds as we run around the house. Not going to lie, that was a lot of fun.

Fast forward to me putting her to bed and she declares that she wants to save me because she’s a Super Hero. I start crying out “Help! Save me!”. Jumping off of her bed she makes the swooshing sound, grabs my legs and pulls me across the room. Then with a big grin pulls me “I saved you, Daddy”.

Well, guess what, every time I look at her I feel like she saves me on a daily basis. All the depression, all the negative thoughts, they all vanish when she calls me her hero, which she did when I was ticking her into bed, “Nun-night Super Dad”. Love that cold so much.

Until next time!

Chapter 17: Cravings!

I received a text message at about 1 pm while I was at work from my wife. She had accidentally left her Shepherds Pie out last night and it had gone off. Now I don’t know how many people reading this have a pregnant partner who suddenly has a craving for something, but for those of you who don’t know… Tears, lots and lots of tears.

Cravings seem to vary wildly while pregnant, not just the Cravings actually but taste buds too. For instance, my wife no longer likes the taste of cola, in fact, it seems no fizzy drink tastes nice anymore. There’s also the craving for meat, almost everything she has now has to have meat in it, hence the Shepherd Pie.

So I offered to drive to Tesco and pick the ingredients up, on the way there, a saw a tyre pressure light on my dashboard. Not having a spare, I checked the tyres, couldn’t see anything so kept going and checking my tyres occasionally. Well, I endurance get there, get inside to find out there’s none of the mash she likes left. Have you ever told your pregnant partner they can’t have what they are craving? Yeah, it didn’t go down well.

Having nothing else she wanted I drove home and now I’m currently in the kitchen making sausages. Now I’m not having a go at anyone, pregnancy sucks for the mother and all the crappy feelings she has to go through, all the pain, women are so much stronger than men to have to deal with everything involved in pregnancy. I just wish there was more I could do to help with the cravings and the pains.

Until next time!
