Time is something we can never get back and lately, I’ve felt as if I’ve been wasting a lot of my youth and my future.
I met my wife over 10 years ago and when we first started dating, we had hopes, dreams, plans etc. Most of the things we wanted just never happened and with kids in our lives, we probably won’t do for another 15-20 years.
I’ve talked about it before but for year’s I’ve wanted to write and direct a film. It’s probably not going to be any good, I just want to make one. I took a few steps, wrote a few scripts, bought a decent mic and about 6 months ago bought a camera. But I just never put the effort into actually doing it.
Well, I’m 33 and I’m going to start taking my first real steps into filming an indie movie. I’m taking an online course about scriptwriting, I’ve bought audiobooks to help. I’m giving my self 2 years to save money and film something.
I’ll talk more about what I’m learning and how things are coming along.
How do you spend your time with your kids? There are a lot of things you can do to entertain them… Oh boy, do kids need to be entertained constantly. So what’s a good way to keep them happy?
My daughter loves to sing, dance, jump, scream and laugh as loud as possible. So my wife often sings nursery rhymes with her or we play music to see her dance and laugh.
One of my favourite things to do with her is play in her room, she has this large canopy over her bed that makes it look like a house. So we tend to play shops or pretend it’s a castle and she is a princess.
My daughter also loves old black and white movies so every Friday night she cuddles into bed with us and watching them.
My son? Well his favourite game at the moment is rocking him back and forth while we sing row row row your boat. Huge grins all around!
A few years ago my family and I were hanging out with an old friend and his daughter. The daughter showed a lot of interest in anime, especially Attack on Titan, drawing incredible pictures, collecting memorabilia etc.
After some time, she flicked over to Cartoon Network and we were introduced to Steven Universe. Now we are all kind of hooked on this amazing show. There’s something like 50 episodes on Netflix and if highly recommend to check it out.
Steven Universe has brought this kind of, “feel good” atmosphere into our household after watching it. Most episodes end with this happy upbeat ending that our daughter loves.
Sorry, thought I should add a post about something family related!
Recently, I’ve really enjoyed watching these incredible musicals by a company called Team Starkid. Whom I highly, HIGHLY recommend going to their website and Youtube channel and watching pretty much everything they have been involved in.
My wife has become almost as hooked on their shows as myself. To the point where we are quoting from songs during every day conversation. I am a particular fan of their newest musical The Guy Who Didn’t Like Musicals.
After spending awhile pouring over thse amazing musicals, it’s once again rekindled my love of creating content, more specifically for me, making movies. So I’ve decided to brush off the old pen and paper (really just microsoft word) and begin writing again.
I have no idea if these will actually lead to anything, but I do miss writing and whenever I think about creating movies, it just feels… right?
