Chapter 45: Playtime

How do you spend your time with your kids? There are a lot of things you can do to entertain them… Oh boy, do kids need to be entertained constantly. So what’s a good way to keep them happy?

My daughter loves to sing, dance, jump, scream and laugh as loud as possible. So my wife often sings nursery rhymes with her or we play music to see her dance and laugh.

One of my favourite things to do with her is play in her room, she has this large canopy over her bed that makes it look like a house. So we tend to play shops or pretend it’s a castle and she is a princess.

My daughter also loves old black and white movies so every Friday night she cuddles into bed with us and watching them.

My son? Well his favourite game at the moment is rocking him back and forth while we sing row row row your boat. Huge grins all around!

Chapter 40: Filming on a Budget.

So let’s talk about a Youtuber I have recently started following. D4Darious.

I found this guy while searching around on YouTube for budget movie making. In fact, he was pretty much the first video I clicked on.now I’m slowly working my way through his 160 videos.

I’m learning a lot from him, not just what equipment is worth looking at but also about finding locations, actors etc. The video I linked above gives a pretty in-depth look at filming on a budget. Even going as far as to show a short film he makes and examples of shots, shooting order, lighting, actors etc!

Please please check him out if you havee any interest in film making! Watching his videos has inspired me to bust out good old Microsoft word and to start writing again.

Chapter 26: Make Believe Voices

So, on Sunday (check out yesterday’s blog), myself, W and my daughter all went bowling and then spent some time in the arcade. Well W is stupidly good at the crane games and won my daughter a Donkey Kong cuddly toy and won himself a Robin cuddly toy. Being a fan of Teen Titans go, I pouted and he gave me the Robin, Sweet!

Anyway, we get home and are playing around when I pick up Robin and we go through my daughter’s conversation with every toy I give a voice.

Robin – “Hello there

Daughter – “Hello Robin, what you doing?”

Robin – “I’m here for hugs!”

Daughter – “Come to play with me!”

I love that she’s able to bring life to toys. Now Robin has become her go-to toy for Daddy to play with. I was sitting in the kitchen when she comes striding in and plops Robin on my lap. “Daddy, Robin talk”. We then play for half an hour in the kitchen.

Its great to get to be involved and play in my daughter’s imaginary world.

Until next time!
